To achieve this goal, we are hiring a Solar Design Technician. In this role, you will be designing residential and commercial solar plan sets. You will be analyzing residential and commercial properties to determine the optimal placement of solar panels and the electrical interconnection of the PV system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing construction documents and Design Change requests and reading through plans to ensure planset matches project scope and information
- Reviewing engineering calculations per the NEC and building codes to properly size equipment
- Communicate with operations staff about design change requests
- Size PV systems to customer’s requirements and electrical usage
- Drafting system layouts/one-line diagrams/and site plans, and staying educated on the latest equipment and industry best practices
- Self-proofing work to ensure accuracy before allowing any project to continue through the Pipeline
- Follow standard operating procedures and protocol to ensure the accuracy of design layouts
- Maintain department design standards and work with management to improve the process and design requirements.

Qualification Requirements
- 1 year of experience in solar as a drafter
- Familiar with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to create, read and understand basic PV plansets
- Exceptional creative problem-solving and analytical skills
- Acute attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

- Ability to understand, read, and comprehends contract documents, plans, and specifications
- Ability to stay organized and maintains project records

Work authorization: United States (Required)
Requirements (Education, Experience, Certifications):
- Experience in using AutoCAD
- At least 1 year of design experience
- Familiarity with Aurora Solar, Helioscope, and other web-based tools in Solar Design.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code Book regarding PV Solar Systems
- Ability to interpret construction documents
- Strong attention to detail

- NABCEB Certification is a plus
